Abstract
A new and distinct cultivar of Phalaenopsis plant named ‘PHA416323’, characterized by its upright plant habit; moderately vigorous growth habit and moderate growth rate; strong flowering stems; freely flowering habit with typically two inflorescences developing per plant, each inflorescence with numerous flowers; flowers with copper-colored petals and sepals with red-colored venation and purplish red-colored labellum; and good postproduction longevity.

STATEMENT REGARDING PRIOR DISCLOSURES BY INVENTOR and APPLICANT/ASSIGNEE:
[0003] A European Community Plant Breeder's Rights application for the instant plant was filed by the Applicant/Assignee of the instant application, Anthura B.V. of Bleiswijk, The Netherlands on Aug. 14, 2024, application number 2024/1891. Foreign priority is not claimed to this application.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention relates to a new and distinct cultivar of Phalaenopsis plant, botanically known as Phalaenopsis hybrida, commonly referred to as a Phalaenopsis or Moth Orchid and hereinafter referred to by the name ‘PHA416323’.
[0005] The new Phalaenopsis plant is a product of a planned breeding program conducted by the Inventor in Bleiswijk, The Netherlands. The objective of the breeding program is to develop new freely flowering Phalaenopsis plants with flowers with unique patterns and coloration.
[0006] The new Phalaenopsis plant originated from a cross-pollination in July 2017 in Bleiswijk, The Netherlands of a proprietary breeding selection of Phalaenopsis hybrida identified as code number 14-062051-0001, not patented, as the female, or seed, parent with a proprietary breeding selection of Phalaenopsis hybrida identified as code number 08-000001-9246, not patented, as the male, or pollen, parent. The new Phalaenopsis plant was discovered and selected by the Inventor as a single flowering plant from within the progeny of the stated cross-pollination grown in a controlled greenhouse environment in Bleiswijk, The Netherlands in April 2020.
[0007] Asexual reproduction of the new Phalaenopsis plant by in vitro meristem propagation in a controlled environment in Bleiswijk, The Netherlands since April 2020 has shown that the unique features of this new Phalaenopsis plant are stable and reproduced true to type in successive generations.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] Plants of the new Phalaenopsis have not been observed under all possible combinations of environmental conditions and cultural practices. The phenotype may vary somewhat with variations in environmental conditions such as temperature and light intensity, without, however, any variance in genotype.
[0009] The following traits have been repeatedly observed and are determined to be the unique characteristics of ‘PHA416323’. These characteristics in combination distinguish ‘PHA416323’ as a new and distinct Phalaenopsis plant:

- [0011] 2. Moderately vigorous growth habit and moderate growth rate.
- [0012] 3. Strong flowering stems.
- [0013] 4. Freely flowering habit with typically two inflorescences developing per plant, each inflorescence with numerous flowers.
- [0014] 5. Flowers with copper-colored petals and sepals with red-colored venation and purplish red-colored labellum.
- [0015] 6. Good postproduction longevity.
[0016] Plants of the new Phalaenopsis can be compared to plants of the female parent selection. Plants of the new Phalaenopsis differ primarily from plants of the female parent selection in the following characteristics:

- [0017] 1. Petals and sepals of plants of the new Phalaenopsis have more distinct venation than petals and sepals of plants of the female parent selection.
- [0018] 2. The petal apices of plants of the new Phalaenopsis are obtuse and shallow retuse whereas the petal apices of the female parent selection are rounded.
[0019] Plants of the new Phalaenopsis can be compared to plants of the male parent selection. Plants of the new Phalaenopsis differ primarily from plants of the male parent selection in the following characteristics:

- [0020] 1. Leaves of plants of the new Phalaenopsis are horizontal whereas leaves of plants of the male parent selection are erect to semi-erect to horizontal.
- [0021] 2. Flowers of plants of the new Phalaenopsis are broader than flowers of plants of the male parent selection.
[0022] Plants of the new Phalaenopsis can be compared to plants of Phalaenopsis hybrida ‘PHALIFQUDI’, disclosed in U.S. Plant Pat. No. 26,831. In side-by-side comparisons, plants of the new Phalaenopsis differ primarily from plants of ‘PHALIFQUDI’ in petal and sepal color as petals and sepals of plants of the new Phalaenopsis are copper in color with distinct purplish red-colored venation whereas petals and sepals of plants of ‘PHALIFQUDI’ are copper in color with faint venation.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS
[0023] The accompanying photographs illustrate the overall appearance of the new Phalaenopsis plant showing the colors as true as it is reasonably possible to obtain in colored reproductions of this type. Colors in the photographs may differ slightly from the color values cited in the detailed botanical description which accurately describe the colors of the new Phalaenopsis plant.
[0024] The photograph on the first sheet (FIG. 1 ) is a side perspective view of a typical flowering plant of ‘PHA416323’ grown in a container.

DETAILED BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION
[0026] The aforementioned photographs and following observations and measurements describe plants grown during the winter in 12-cm containers in a glass-covered greenhouse in Bleiswijk, The Netherlands and grown under cultural practices typically used in commercial Phalaenopsis production. Plants were 18 months old when the photographs and description were taken. During the first 14 months of production of the plants, day and night temperatures averaged 28.5° C., and during the last four months of production of the plants, day and night temperatures averaged 20° C. Throughout the production of the plants, light levels ranged from 100μmol to 180μmol. In the following description, color references are made to The Royal Horticultural Society Colour Chart, 2015 Edition, except where general terms of ordinary dictionary significance are used.
