Abstract
An illumination apparatus includes a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting devices, a reflective layer, a plurality of conductor parts and a translucent adhesive layer. Each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices has a translucent substrate, and a semiconductor light-emitting layer formed on the substrate. The reflective layer has a size on which semiconductor light-emitting devices are arranged at intervals. The conductor parts are provided on the reflective layer, and electrically connected to the semiconductor light-emitting devices. The adhesive layer bonds the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices onto the reflective layer, and thereby holds the semiconductor light-emitting devices on the reflective layer.

[0001] This application is based upon and claims the benefit of priority from prior Japanese Patent Application No. 2006-232634, filed Aug. 29, 2006, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
Background of the Invention
[0002] 1. Field of the Invention
[0003] The present invention relates to an illumination apparatus using a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting devices, such as light-emitting diode chips, as a light source thereof.
[0004] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0005] Known are LED displays having a plurality of light-emitting diode chips forming a pixel, and a cover member surrounding the light-emitting diode chips.
[0006] The light-emitting diode chips are mounted in a line on a printed wiring board. The cover member has a cavity which contains light-emitting diode chips for one pixel, and a sealing material formed of synthetic resin is filled into the cavity. The light-emitting diode chips for one pixel are molded as one unitary piece with the cover member by the sealing member. For example, Japanese Patent No. 3329573 discloses an LED display having such a structure.
[0007] In the conventional LED display disclosed in the patent gazette, light-emitting diode chips forming one pixel include a blue LED chip. Blue LED chips have a sapphire substrate on which a GaN-based compound semiconductor layer is superposed. The sapphire substrate is bonded to a printed wiring board by an insulating adhesive.
[0008] According to conventional LED displays, light traveling toward the printed wiring board among blue light emitted by the blue LED chip is reflected, and thereby brightness of the blue LED chip observed on an emitted light observing surface facing the printed wiring board is increased.
[0009] Specifically, a filler such as alumina fine powder is mixed into the insulating adhesive which bonds the sapphire substrate to the printed wiring board, and thereby the insulating adhesive is formed as a white reflective layer. Thereby, emitted blue light which passes through the sapphire substrate of the blue LED chip is reflected on a surface of the insulating adhesive which also serves as a reflective layer.
[0010] In another example, a transparent adhesive which does not contain a filler is used as insulating adhesive, and a conductive material such as Al, Ni, Ag, and Pt is evaporated or superposed by plating onto a portion of the printed wiring board corresponding to a sapphire substrate, and thereby a reflective layer is formed. Thereby, emitted blue light which passes through the sapphire substrate of the blue LED chip is guided to the printed wiring board, and reflected by the reflective layer.
[0011] In conventional LED displays, to deliver light effectively, a reflective layer is formed in a part of a printed wiring board corresponding to a blue LED chip, and thereby light reflectivity of the printed wiring board is enhanced.
[0012] However, a reflective layer exists only in a part corresponding to a blue LED chip, and the area of the reflective layer is relatively small in consideration of the size of the whole LED display. Therefore, in prior art, there is a possibility that the intensity of light is insufficient when the apparatus is used as an illumination apparatus for general illumination. Therefore, there is room for improvement in respect of obtaining sufficient light for practical use.
[0013] Further, conventional LED displays require a special step of evaporating, or forming by plating, a conductive material onto a specific part of the printed wiring board, or a step of printing paste containing white filler. This requires time and labor for forming a reflective layer, and increases the manufacturing cost of the illumination apparatus.
Brief Summary of the Invention
[0014] An object of the present invention is to provide an illumination apparatus in which a reflective layer for reflecting light radiated from a semiconductor light-emitting device is easily formed, and which enables efficient delivery of light.
[0015] To achieve the above object, an illumination apparatus according to claim 1 comprises: a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting devices each having a translucent substrate and a semiconductor light-emitting layer formed on the substrate; a white reflective layer having a size on which the semiconductor light-emitting devices are arranged at intervals; a plurality of conductor parts to which the semiconductor light-emitting devices are electrically connected, the conductor parts being provided on the reflective layer; and a translucent adhesive layer which bonds the substrate of each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices onto the reflective layer, and thereby holds the semiconductor light-emitting devices on the reflective layer.
[0016] In the present invention, nitride semiconductors are preferably used as the semiconductor light-emitting devices. Further, as the semiconductor light-emitting devices, it is possible to use group III-V-based compound semiconductor, group II-IV-based compound semiconductor, and group IV-IV-based compound semiconductor. As the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices, it is possible to use a crystalline substrate such as sapphire, quartz, SiC, and GaIN. The color of light emitted by the semiconductor light-emitting devices may be each of blue, red, and green. Further, the colors of light emitted by the semiconductor light-emitting devices may be different from each other, or the same.
[0017] In the present invention, the white reflective layer preferably has a reflectance which is as close to 100% as possible, as long as the reflectance is 85% or more in the region of a wavelength of 420 to 740 nm. An example of the white reflective layer of this type is an adhesive sheet, which is obtained by impregnating a sheet base material such as paper and cloth with a thermosetting resin material including at least one of aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, magnesium oxide, and barium sulfate. The adhesive sheet is called “prepreg”.
[0018] Further, silver plating can be used as the white reflective layer. The silver plating is provided, with a predetermined thickness, on the surface of the baseboard formed of metal or synthetic resin.
[0019] In the present invention, as the translucent adhesive layer, it is possible to use, for example, a die bond material formed of epoxy resin, urea resin, acrylic resin, or silicone resin. The adhesive layer has a thickness of 100 to 500 μm, and preferably has a light reflectance which is as close to 100% as possible, as long as the light reflectance is 70%.
[0020] As the adhesive layer of this type, it is particularly preferable to use a silicone-based adhesive layer. Silicone-based adhesive layers have a high light transmittance for light of all the wavelength ranges from ultraviolet rays to visible light. Further, silicone-based adhesive layers are excellent in that they are resistant to deterioration such as discoloration even when irradiated with light of a relatively short wavelength for a long time.
[0021] For example, a low-melting glass may be used as the translucent adhesive layer, instead of a resin-based die bond material.
[0022] In the present invention, the conductor parts are formed by subjecting a metal foil, such as a copper foil, superposed on the reflective layer to etching. Further, if the reflective layer has conductivity, the conductor parts are bonded onto the reflective layer by an electrical insulating adhesive.
[0023] The conductor parts on the reflective layer are electrically connected to the semiconductor light-emitting devices by means of wire bonding or the like. The semiconductor light-emitting devices are electrically connected to each other in series, in parallel, or by a combination thereof.
[0024] Further, in the present invention, it is preferable to cover the reflective layer, on which the semiconductor light-emitting devices are mounted, with a translucent sealing member, and mold the semiconductor light-emitting devices with the sealing member. However, the sealing member is not an indispensable constituent element, but can be omitted.
[0025] In the invention of claim 1, substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices are bonded, by a translucent adhesive layer, onto a white reflective layer on which conductor parts are formed. The semiconductor light-emitting devices are electrically connected to the conductor parts, and held on the reflective layer by the adhesive layer.
[0026] According to the above structure, an illumination apparatus which can perform surface emission is obtained. Further, according to the illumination apparatus, light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting devices are reflected by almost the whole area of the reflective layer having a size on which the semiconductor light-emitting devices are formed at intervals. Therefore, light is efficiently delivered in comparison with the case where light emitted from semiconductor light-emitting devices are reflected by parts corresponding to the respective semiconductor light-emitting devices.
[0027] In addition, since the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices are bonded onto the reflective layer, it is unnecessary to form a plurality of reflective layers corresponding to the respective semiconductor light-emitting devices. Therefore, the reflective layer is easily formed.
[0028] According to the invention of claim 2, the conductor parts are provided on the reflective layer to be adjacent to the semiconductor light-emitting devices, and a thickness of the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is larger than a thickness of the conductor parts.

Therefore, part of light made incident on the substrates from the semiconductor light-emitting layers and part of light reflected by the reflective layer and made incident on the substrates again are dissipated from the side surfaces of the substrates to the outside of the semiconductor light-emitting devices. Simultaneously, light is also dissipated sideways from the semiconductor light-emitting layers.
[0030] The thickness of the conductor parts adjacent to the semiconductor light-emitting devices on the reflective layer is smaller than the thickness of the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices. Therefore, although the conductor parts are located in a direction of dissipating light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting devices, the probability that light dissipated sideways from the substrates is obstructed by the conductor parts is reduced. Therefore, loss of light due to interference of light with the conductor parts is suppressed, and a structure preferable for efficiently delivering light is achieved.

[0034] According to the invention of claim 4, the reflective layer also serves as an insulating layer, and a thickness of the insulating layer falls within a range from 30 to 90 μm.
[0035] According to the invention, when the thickness of the insulating layer is less than 30 μm, light passes through the insulating layer. This reduces the light reflectance and insulating property of the insulating layer. Conversely, the thickness of the insulating layer exceeds 90 μm, thermal resistance of the insulating layer is increased. Consequently, the heat radiation property of the insulating layer is reduced, and the insulating layer cannot efficiently dissipate heat of the semiconductor light-emitting devices. This has an adverse influence on the life of the semiconductor light-emitting devices. Therefore, the thickness of the reflective layer also serving as the insulating layer is specified as described above, and thus the heat radiation property of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is maintained, without deteriorating the reflectance of the reflective layer.

[0037] According to the invention, heat of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is efficiently dissipated into the reflective layer, in comparison with the case where the reflective layer is formed of resin. This structure reduces thermal resistance of a package including the semiconductor light-emitting devices and the reflective layer, and prevents increase in temperature of the semiconductor light-emitting devices.

[0039] According to the invention, heat of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is directly dissipated into the reflective layer. In addition, part of heat of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is conducted to the conductor parts through bonding wires. Therefore, heat generated by the semiconductor light-emitting devices is released from the conductor parts to the reflective layer. This structure sufficiently secures a heat transmission path from the semiconductor light-emitting devices to the reflective layer, and prevents increase in temperature of the semiconductor light-emitting devices with reliability.

Detailed Description of the Invention
[0050] A first embodiment of the present invention is described below with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4 .
[0051] FIGS. 1 and 2 illustrate an illumination apparatus 1. The illumination apparatus 1 forms an LED package formed as a unit serving as one module. The illumination apparatus 1 comprises a baseboard 2, a reflective layer 3, a circuit pattern 4, a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting devices 5, an adhesive layer 6, a reflector 7, a sealing member 8, and a light diffusion member 9.
[0052] The baseboard 2 is a flat board formed of, for example, a synthetic resin, and is rectangular to obtain a light-emitting area necessary for the illumination apparatus 1. As illustrated in FIG. 2 , the baseboard 2 has a front surface 2a, and a back surface 2b located on the reverse side of the front surface 2a. Epoxy resin including glass powder is preferably used as material of the baseboard 2.
[0053] The material of the baseboard 2 is not limited to synthetic resin, but metal can also be used as the material of the baseboard 2. When the baseboard 2 is formed of metal, heat dissipation from the back surface 2b of the baseboard 2 is improved, and temperature distribution of the baseboard 2 is equalized. This structure is preferable to inhibit variation of color of light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 which emit light of the same wavelength region.
[0054] To inhibit variation of color of emitted light, it is desirable to form the baseboard 2 of a metal material having excellent heat conductivity. Examples of metal material having excellent heat conductivity are aluminum having a heat conductivity of 10 w/m·K or more, and an alloy thereof.
[0055] The reflective layer 3 is layered on the front surface 2a of the baseboard 2, and has a size enough to arrange semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 of a predetermined number thereon with intervals. The reflective layer 3 is formed of a white insulating material. Prepreg in the form of a sheet is used as the insulating material. Prepreg is a material obtained by impregnating a sheet base material with thermosetting resin containing white powder such as aluminum oxide or the like, and has adhesion by itself. Therefore, the reflective layer 3 is adhered to the front surface 2a of the baseboard 2, and covers the baseboard 2. The reflective layer 3 has a flat light reflective surface 3a which is disposed on a side not facing the baseboard 2.
[0056] As illustrated in FIG. 4 , the circuit pattern 4 is formed on the light reflective surface 3a of the reflective layer 3. The circuit pattern 4 has a first conductor line 4a and a second conductor line 4b. The first and second conductor lines 4a and 4b extend longitudinally relative to the baseboard 2, and are arranged parallel to each other and separated by an interval.
[0057] The first conductor line 4a has a plurality of pads 4c serving as conductor parts, and a first terminal part 4d. In the same manner, the second conductor line 4b has a plurality of pads 4c serving as conductor parts, and a second terminal part 4e. The pads 4c are arranged longitudinally at intervals relative to the baseboard 2. The first terminal part 4d is formed as one unitary piece with the pad 4c located at one end of the first conductor line 4a. The second terminal part 4e is formed as one unitary piece with the pad 4c located at one end of the second conductor line 4b.
[0058] The first and second terminal parts 4d and 4e are adjacent to each other at one end portion longitudinally relative to the baseboard 2. Further, the first and second terminal parts 4d and 4e are electrically insulated by the reflective layer 3. A power supply cable is connected to each of the first and the second terminal parts 4d and 4e by means of soldering or the like.
[0059] The circuit pattern 4 according to the first embodiment is formed by the following process.
[0060] First, a prepreg impregnated with uncured thermosetting resin is bonded onto the front surface 2a of the baseboard 2, and the front surface 2a of the baseboard 2 is covered with the reflective layer 3. Next, a copper foil having the same size as that of the reflective layer 3 is adhered onto the reflective layer 3, and thereby a laminated member is formed. Thereafter, the laminated member is heated and pressurized simultaneously, and thereby the thermosetting resin is cured. Thereby, the baseboard 2 and the copper foil are bonded to the reflective layer 3 as one unitary piece. Then, a resist layer is superposed on the copper foil, and the copper foil is subjected to etching. Thereafter, the resist layer is removed, and thereby a circuit pattern 4 is formed on the reflective layer 3. The thickness A (refer to FIG. 3 ) of the copper foil forming the circuit pattern 4 is, for example, 35 μm.
[0061] Double-wire blue LED chips using, for example, nitride semiconductor are used as the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5. As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3 , each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 has a substrate 11 having a light-transmitting property, and a semiconductor light-emitting layer 12.
[0062] For example, a sapphire substrate is used as the substrate 11. The substrate 11 has a first surface 11a, and a second surface 11b located on the reverse side of the first surface 11a. In the first embodiment, the first surface 11a and the second surface 11b are parallel to each other. The thickness B of the substrate 11 is, for example, 90 μm, which is larger than the thickness of the pads 4c of the circuit pattern 4.
[0063] The semiconductor light-emitting layer 12 is formed by successively stacking a buffer layer, an n-type semiconductor layer, a light-emitting layer, a p-type clad layer, and a p-type semiconductor layer on the first surface 11a of the substrate 11. The light-emitting layer has a quantum well structure obtained by alternately stacking barrier layers and a well layer. The n-type semiconductor layer has an n-side electrode 13. The p-type semiconductor layer has a p-side electrode 14. The semiconductor light-emitting layer 12 of this type does not have a reflective film, and radiates light to both sides relative to the thickness.
[0064] As illustrated in FIG. 1 , each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 is arranged between pads 4c which are adjacent to each other longitudinally relative to the baseboard 2, and is bonded onto the same light reflective surface 3a of the reflective layer 3 by the adhesive layer 6. Specifically, the second surface 11b of the substrate 11 of each semiconductor light emitting device 5 is bonded onto the light reflective surface 3a by the adhesive layer 6. As a result, the pads 4c of the circuit pattern 4 and the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 are alternately arranged on the light reflective surface 3a.
[0065] As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3 , each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 has a pair of side surfaces 5a and 5b. One side surface 5a of each semiconductor light-emitting device 5 is opposed to one adjacent pad 4c. The other side surface 5b of each semiconductor light-emitting device 5 is opposed to another adjacent pad 4c.
[0066] The thickness C of the adhesive layer 6 interposed between the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 and the light reflective surface 3a is, for example, 100 to 500 μm. A silicone-resin-based adhesive is preferably used as the adhesive layer 6. The silicone-resin-based adhesive has a light-transmitting property which achieves a light transmittance of 70% or more when the thickness is 100 μm or more, for example.
[0067] As illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3 , the electrodes 13 and 14 of each semiconductor light-transmitting device 5 are electrically connected to the adjacent pads 4c of the circuit pattern 4 by wire bonding. Specifically, the n-side electrode 13 is electrically connected to a pad 4c adjacent to the side surface 5a of the semiconductor light-emitting device 5 by a bonding wire 15. The p-side electrode 14 is electrically connected to another pad 4c adjacent to the side surface 5b of the semiconductor light-emitting device 5 by the bonding wire 15.
[0068] Further, a pad 4c which is located on a side reverse to the first terminal part 4d in the first conductor line 4a is electrically connected with a pad 4c which is located on a side reverse to the second terminal part 4e in the second conductor line 4b by another bonding wire 16 (refer to FIG. 1 ). Therefore, according to the first embodiment, the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 are connected in series through the circuit pattern 4.
[0069] As illustrated in FIG. 1 , the reflector 7 is a rectangular frame, and surrounds all the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 on the reflective layer 3 by itself. In other words, the reflector 7 is not provided for each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5, but serves as a constituent element common to all the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5.
[0070] The reflector 7 is bonded to the light reflective surface 3a of the reflective layer 3. In the first embodiment, all the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5 and all the pads 4 of the circuit pattern 4 are located in a region surrounded by the reflector 7. The first and second terminal parts 4d and 4e of the circuit pattern 4 are located outside the reflector 7.
[0071] The reflector 7 is formed of synthetic resin or the like, and an internal surface of the reflector 7 serves as a light reflective surface 7a. The light reflective surface 7a is formed by evaporating, or forming by plating, a metal material having high reflectance such as Al and Ni onto the internal surface of the reflector 7. The light reflective surface 7a can also be formed by applying white paint having high visible light reflectance onto the internal surface of the reflector 7.
[0072] Further, the light reflective surface 7a itself can be provided with a white color with high visible light reflectance, by mixing white powder into resin material forming the reflector 7. A white filler such as aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, magnesium oxide, and barium sulfate can be used as the white powder. As illustrated by chain double-dashed lines in FIG. 2 , the light reflective surface 7a of the reflector 7 is preferably inclined toward the outside of the reflector 7 as it goes away from the light reflective surface 3a of the reflective layer 3.
[0073] As illustrated in FIG. 2 , the sealing member 8 is injected into the region surrounded by the reflector 7. The sealing member 8 is solidified in the state of covering the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5, the pads 4c and the bonding wires 15 and 16. The sealing member 8 is formed of a material having a light-transmitting property, such as a transparent silicone resin and a transparent glass.
[0074] Fluorescent particles are mixed into the material forming the sealing member 8, if necessary. In the first embodiment, blue LED chips are used as the semiconductor light-emitting devices 5. Therefore, used are fluorescent particles which perform wavelength conversion to convert blue primary light emitted from the blue LED chips into yellow secondary light having a different wavelength. As, a preferably example, the fluorescent particles are mixed into the sealing member 8 in the state of being almost uniformly dispersed in the sealing member 8.
[0075] In the case of using the sealing member 8 containing fluorescent particles, the fluorescent particles, which blue light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting layer 12 strikes, absorbs the blue light and emits yellow light. The yellow light passes through the sealing member 8. On the other hand, part of the blue light radiated from the semiconductor light-emitting layer 12 passes through the sealing member 8, without striking the fluorescent particles. Therefore, light beams of two colors having a relationship of complementary colors are mixed, and thereby white light is obtained.
[0076] As illustrated in FIG. 2 , the light diffusion member 9 is flat and is disposed in front of the reflector 7. The light diffusion member 9 may be directly supported by the reflector 7, or may be supported by an illumination appliance (not shown) containing the illumination apparatus 1.
[0077] As the light diffusion member 9, it is desirable to use a material having a light diffusion property, in which difference between transmittance for blue light having a wavelength of 400 to 480 nm and transmittance for yellow light having a wavelength of 540 to 650 nm is 10% or less, and visible light transmittance equal to or larger than 90% and less than 100%. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspects is not limited to the specific details and representative embodiments shown and described herein. Accordingly, various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the general inventive concept as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
Claims
What is claimed is:
1. An illumination apparatus comprising:
a baseboard having a front surface;
a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting devices each having an individual translucent substrate separate from the substrate of others of the light-emitting devices and a semiconductor light-emitting layer disposed on the substrate;
a reflective layer disposed on and contiguous with the front surface of the baseboard, the reflective layer having a flat light reflective surface on which the semiconductor light-emitting devices are disposed in intervals;
a plurality of conductor parts provided on the flat light reflective surface of the reflective layer in intervals, the conductor parts being adjacent to the semiconductor light-emitting devices and electrically connected to the semiconductor light-emitting devices through bonding wires, wherein a thickness of the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is larger than a thickness of the conductor parts so that the light-emitting layers are disposed further from the reflective layer than the conductor parts; and
a translucent adhesive layer that bonds the substrate of each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices onto the flat light reflective surface of the reflective layer, thereby securing the semiconductor light-emitting devices on the reflective layer.
2. An illumination apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:
a light diffusion member which diffuses light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting devices, the light diffusion member being opposed to the reflective layer.
3. An illumination apparatus according to claim 1, wherein
the reflective layer also serves as an insulating layer.
4. An illumination apparatus according to claim 1, wherein
the reflective layer is formed of silver plating.
5. An illumination apparatus according to claim 4, wherein
the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices and the conductor parts are thermally connected to the reflective layer, and the semiconductor light-emitting layers of the semiconductor light-emitting devices are electrically and thermally connected to the conductive parts by the bonding wires.
6. An illumination apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the reflective layer is white.
7. An illumination apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the conductor parts and the semiconductor light-emitting devices are alternately arranged on the flat light reflective surface.
8. An illumination apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a reflector provided on the flat light reflective surface, the reflector surrounding the semiconductor light-emitting devices.
9. An illumination apparatus according to claim 8, further comprising a sealing member injected into a region surrounded by the reflector, the sealing member having a light-transmitting property and covering the semiconductor light-emitting devices, the conductor parts, and the bonding wires.
10. An illumination apparatus comprising:
a metal baseboard having a first surface and a second surface, the second surface located on a reverse side of the first surface;
a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting devices, each semiconductor light-emitting device having an individual translucent substrate separate from the substrate of others of the light-emitting devices and a semiconductor light-emitting layer disposed on the substrate;
a reflective layer superposed on the first surface of the metal baseboard, the reflective layer having a flat light reflective surface, the flat light reflective surface being conductive and having the semiconductor light-emitting devices disposed thereon in intervals;
a translucent adhesive layer that bonds the substrate of each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices onto the flat light reflective surface of the reflective layer, thereby securing the semiconductor light-emitting devices on the reflective layer;
a plurality of conductor parts provided on the flat light reflective surface of the reflective layer in intervals, the conductor parts arranged adjacent to the semiconductor light-emitting devices and electrically connected to the semiconductor light-emitting devices through bonding wires, wherein a thickness of the substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is larger than a thickness of the conductor parts so that the light-emitting layers are disposed further from the reflective layer than the conductor parts; and
an insulating adhesive that bonds each of the conductor parts to the flat light reflective surface of the reflective layer.
11. An illumination apparatus according to claim 10, further comprising a heat sink attached to the second surface of the metal baseboard.
12. An illumination apparatus according to claim 10, wherein each conductor part has an insulator and a conductive layer formed on the insulator, wherein the insulating adhesive is filled between the insulator and the reflective layer.
13. An illumination apparatus comprising:
a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting devices individually having a translucent substrate and a semiconductor light-emitting layer disposed on the translucent substrate, the semiconductor light-emitting devices being arranged in intervals;
a white insulated reflective layer having a flat light reflective surface, the flat light reflective surface configured to be continuous in the direction of the arrangement of the semiconductor light-emitting devices;
a translucent adhesive layer that bonds the translucent substrate of each of the semiconductor light-emitting devices onto the flat light reflective surface, thereby securing the semiconductor light-emitting devices on the insulated reflective layer; and
a plurality of conductor parts provided on the flat light reflective surface of the insulated reflective layer, the conductor parts are electrically connected to the semiconductor light-emitting devices.
14. The illumination apparatus of claim 13, wherein a thickness of the translucent substrates of the semiconductor light-emitting devices is larger than a thickness of the conductor parts.
15. The illumination apparatus of claim 13, further comprising:
a light diffusion member which diffuses light emitted from the semiconductor light-emitting devices, the semiconductor light-emitting devices being opposed to the insulated reflective layer.
16. The illumination apparatus of claim 13, wherein a thickness of the insulated reflective layer falls within a range from 30 to 90 pm.
