Abstract

According to this invention, an electronic photographing device includes: a recording medium for recording image information corresponding to each frame photographed by panorama photographing; a predicted number of panorama-photographed frames setting device for setting information corresponding to the predicted number of photographed frames to be photographed by panoramic photographing; a number of available frames setting device for setting the number of frames which can be photographed on the basis of a capacity of the recording medium; a comparison device for comparing the number of available frames set by the number of available frames setting device with the predicted number of photographed set by the predicted number of panorama-photographed frames setting device; and a warning device for warning the user that a spare recording medium is required as a result of comparison by the comparison device if the number of available frames set by the number of available frames setting device is smaller than the predicted number of photographed frames set by the predicted number of panorama-photographed frames setting device.

Description

Background of the Invention

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to an electronic photographing device capable of panorama photographing.

[0003] 2. Related Art Statement

[0004] Conventionally, a photographing device capable of recording information image corresponding to a panoramic image photographed by a photographing means on a recording medium. However, in the conventional camera, panoramic photographing is performed regardless of the capacity of the recording medium. For this reason, the following disadvantage occurs. That is, the capacity of the recording medium runs out in the middle of panoramic photographing session to make impossible to finish the photographing session.

[0005] Even if panoramic photographing is performed after a recording medium is exchanged, identification data for identifying one set of panoramic images recorded on the recording medium before the recording medium is exchanged is not necessarily uniform with the data of the previous medium. For this reason, an editing operation after photographing is cumbersome, and an exposure level of a photographing means and the distance information of a photographing lens are different from those obtained before the recording medium is exchanged, so that accurate panoramic photographing cannot be performed.

Objects and Summary of the Invention

[0006] The present invention provides an electronic photographing device which avoids the inconvenience of having a photographing session unexpectedly stopped due to insufficient capacity of a recording medium in the middle of a panoramic photographing session.

[0007] The present invention also provides an electronic photographing device in which, when image information corresponding to a panoramic image photographed by a photographing means is subsequently recorded on a spare recording medium, photographing is performed under the same conditions such as an appropriate exposure and appropriate focal point adjustment for the entire set of panoramic images, and an editing operation for one set of panorama images can be easily performed after the photographing.

[0008] In short, according to the invention, an electronic photographing device comprises:

- [0009] a recording medium for recording image information corresponding to each frame photographed by panorama photographing;
- [0010] a predictive number of panorama-photographed frames setting device for setting information corresponding to the predicted number of photographed frames to be photographed by panorama photographing;
- [0011] a number of photographing-capable frames setting device for setting the number of frames which can be photographed on the basis of an available capacity of the recording medium;
- [0012] a comparison device for comparing the number of photographing-capable frames set by the number of photographing-capable frames setting device with the predictive number of photographed set by the predictive number of panorama-photographed frames setting device; and
- [0013] a warning device for displaying warning that a spare recording medium is required, as a result of comparison by the comparison device, if the number of photographing-capable frames set by the number of photographing-capable frames setting device is smaller than the predicted number of photographed frames set by the predicted number of panorama-photographed frames setting device.

Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiments

An electric-flash device 7 for illuminating an object is arranged on the left side of the distance measurement lens 5, and a grip portion 8 for holding the camera body 1 is arranged on the left side of the electric-flash device 7. A strap fixing portion 9 is arranged on the side surface of the grip portion 8.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. An electronic photographing device, comprising:

a detachable recording medium for recording image information corresponding to each panoramic image frame in a panoramic image;

predicted number setting means for allowing a user to preset a number of panoramic image frames for forming a panoramic image;

available recording medium determining means for determining a number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded on the detachable recording medium based on an unexposed capacity of the recording medium;

comparison means for comparing the number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded as determined by the available recording medium determining means with the number of panoramic image frames preset by the predicted number setting means; and

warning means for generating a warning that a spare recording medium is required to complete recording the number of panoramic image frames, if as a result of comparison by the comparison means, the number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded as determined by the available recording medium determining means is smaller than the number of panoramic image frames preset by the predicted number setting means.

2. An electronic photographing device, comprising:

a digital camera having a panoramic mode in which a panoramic image can be recorded, wherein the panoramic image includes a number of associated panoramic image frames that together form the panoramic image, the digital camera being usable in combination with a detachable recording medium for recording image information corresponding to each panoramic image frame in a panoramic image, the digital camera further including:

a calculation element for calculating a remaining number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded on the recording medium based on an entire capacity of the recording medium and a capacity which has previously been used to obtain a remaining capacity of said recording medium; and

a warning generator for generating a warning when the remaining number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded is not more than a predetermined value.

3. An electronic photographing device according to claim 2, wherein the predetermined value is zero.

4. An electronic photographing device according to claim 3, wherein the warning indicates that a spare recording medium must be inserted when the remaining number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded is zero.

5. An electronic photographing device, comprising:

a first detachable recording medium for recording image information corresponding to a first panoramic image frame of a set of panoramic image frames photographed in the panoramic mode, and

a second detachable recording medium for recording image information corresponding to a subsequent panoramic image frame in the set of panoramic image frames photographed in the panoramic mode when a capacity of the first recording medium is insufficient to record all of the images of the set of panoramic image frames,

the digital camera including:

a photographing information storage element for storing information relating to photographing conditions of the first panoramic image frame of the set of panoramic image frames; and

a control element for photographing the subsequent panoramic image frame according to the stored information relating to photographing conditions of the first photographed panoramic image; wherein the photographing conditions include at least one of exposure information, AF information and white balance information.

6. An electronic photographing device, comprising:

wherein the panoramic photographing apparatus includes:

a photographing information storage element for storing photographing conditions of the first panoramic image frame of the set of panoramic image frames; and

a control element for photographing the subsequent panoramic image frame according to the stored photographing conditions of the first panoramic image frame;

wherein the photographing conditions include at least one of photometric information, white balance information, a focusing setting, exposure information, and a rotation direction,

wherein the panoramic photographing apparatus further comprises:

a calculation element for calculating a remaining number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded on the recording medium based on an entire capacity of said recording medium and a capacity which has been used to obtain a remaining capacity of said recording medium; and

a warning generator for generating a warning when the remaining number of panoramic image frames which can be recorded on the recording medium is less than a predetermined number.

7. An electronic photographing device according to claim 6, wherein the panoramic photographing apparatus further comprises:

a predicted number setting element for setting a predicted number of panoramic image frames to be photographed for a panoramic image; and

a comparing element for determining whether the recording medium is sufficient to photograph all of the predicted panoramic image frames by comparing the predicted number with the remaining number calculated by the calculation element,

wherein the predetermined number is the predicted number and the warning indicates that a second recording medium is required to finish photographing all of the panoramic image frames of the panoramic image.

8. An electronic photographing device according to claim 7, wherein the identification information is one of a file name shared by all of the images in the set of panoramic image frames or a panorama number representing a photographing order of the panoramic image frames in the set of panoramic image frames.

9. An electronic photographing device according to claim 7, wherein the panoramic photographing apparatus further includes means for checking whether a second recording medium has replaced the first recording medium prior to photographing a subsequent image according to the stored photographing conditions of the first panoramic image frame.

10. An electronic photographing device comprising:

a panoramic photographing apparatus which records panoramic images each composed of a plurality of associated panoramic image frames and image information corresponding to at least a first panoramic image frame of a set of panoramic image frames photographed by panoramic photographing onto a first recording medium, and which records image information corresponding to a subsequent panoramic image frame of the set onto a second recording medium when the capacity of the first recording medium is insufficient to record the entire set of panoramic image frames, the first and second recording mediums being interchangeably attachable to the panoramic photographing apparatus; wherein

the image information recorded on the first recording medium and the image information recorded on the second recording medium will include at least one piece of identification information representing the set of panoramic images.

11. An electronic photographing device according to claim 10, wherein the identification information is one of a file name shared by all of the panoramic image frames of the set of panoramic image frames or a panorama number representing a photographing order in the set of panoramic image frames.

12. An apparatus for recording panoramic images each panoramic image being composed of a plurality of associated panoramic image frames, comprising:

a first recording medium having recorded thereon image information corresponding to at least a first panoramic image frame of a panoramic image; and

a second recording medium having recorded thereon image information corresponding to a subsequent panoramic image frame of the panoramic image when a capacity of the first recording medium is insufficient to record all of the panoramic image frames in the panoramic image;

wherein the image information recorded on the first recording medium and the image information recorded on the second recording medium will include at least one piece of identification information representing the panoramic image.

13. An electronic photographing device according to claim 12, wherein the identification information is one of a file name shared by all of the panoramic image frames of the panoramic image or a panorama number representing a photographing order of the panoramic image frames in the set of panoramic image frames.
