CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0001] This is a continuation of, and claims priority to, PCT Application No. PCT/CN2024/129717 filed on Nov. 4, 2024, which in turn claims priority to Chinese Patent Application No. CN 202311495679.1 filed on Nov. 10, 2023. The disclosures of these applications are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety.
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0002] The present invention relates to the field of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), and specifically to an LED having a cup-in-cup structure for achieving dual color temperature.
BACKGROUND
[0003] By covering a blue LED with phosphor, the blue LED emits light and excites the phosphor to emit light, which is then mixed to obtain white light. By applying different phosphors, or controlling different phosphor thicknesses, white light with different color temperatures can be obtained.
[0004] Currently, most white LEDs on the market have a fixed color temperature range. Achieving dual color temperatures, and further mixing based on the duty cycle of the dual color temperatures to obtain more color temperature effects, holds significant value. For example, the Chinese Utility Model Patent “Dual Color Temperature White Light LED Lamp Bead” (CN 208078019U) discloses that “by adjusting the shape of the bracket PPA, and by setting a partition wall to separate the traditional chip placement area into a first chip placement area and a second chip placement area, and dispensing different phosphors in the two areas, two types of color temperature white light illumination are achieved in a single LED lamp bead.”
[0005] As recorded in the Chinese Invention Patent “A Continuously Adjustable Color Temperature White Light LED Source” (Publication No. CN 109638140 A), “the dispensing area is partitioned into 2 or more areas, serving as dispensing areas for cold white/warm white light, respectively. In LED modules, the dual-color dispensing areas are also typically isolated, often designed symmetrically about the center or spaced apart to achieve uniform light mixing. Simultaneously, techniques such as chip surface dispensing or CSP are used, where cold white/warm white light-emitting surfaces are closely and evenly cross-arranged to achieve more uniform light mixing.” The Chinese Invention Patent “A Continuously Adjustable Color Temperature White Light LED Source” (Publication No. CN 109638140 A) further discloses “using blue light chips and violet light chips cross-arranged in the dispensing area c, i.e., the light-emitting area,” “a continuously adjustable color temperature white light LED source achieved by utilizing the characteristic that phosphors can be selectively excited by blue/violet light,” and “1. Spectrum when only the blue light channel is lit, color temperature 7000K, 2. Spectrum when only the violet light channel is lit, color temperature 3200K. Continuous variation in the range of 3200K-7000K is achievable by adjusting the output ratio of the two channels.”
[0006] The Chinese Utility Model Patent “Dual Color Temperature White Light LED Lamp Bead” and the Chinese Invention Patent “A Continuously Adjustable Color Temperature White Light LED Source” achieve white light with multiple color temperatures. However, the packaging bracket structure of the Chinese Utility Model Patent “Dual Color Temperature White Light LED Lamp Bead” is complex. If the two areas are dispensed with different phosphors that contaminate each other, the color temperatures obtained in the two areas may deviate from the target, leading to a complex packaging process and poor consistency of the packaged finished product. The Chinese Invention Patent “A Continuously Adjustable Color Temperature White Light LED Source” “achieves a continuously adjustable color temperature white light LED source by utilizing the characteristic that phosphors can be selectively excited by blue/violet light,” requiring the mixing of multiple phosphors, which imposes high demands on the phosphors.
[0007] The Chinese Utility Model Patent “A Dual Color Temperature LED Device and Light-Emitting Device” (Authorization Announcement No. CN 207199663 U) provides a dual color temperature LED device, comprising a lead frame and two independent reflective cups formed on the lead frame, with LED chips respectively disposed in each reflective cup on the lead frame, the LED chips being electrically connected to the lead frame, and the reflective cups also being encapsulated with fluorescent glue, the fluorescent glue being formed by mixing a transparent adhesive with phosphor, wherein the phosphor concentration in the two reflective cups is different or the proportions of components in the phosphor differ, so that light emitted by the LED chips passes through the phosphor and emits light of two different color temperatures. The Chinese Invention Patent “A Dual-Cup Adjustable Color Temperature, Color Rendering Index, and Colorful Adjustable LED Lamp” (Authorization Announcement No. CN 104183685 B) discloses a dual-cup adjustable color temperature, color rendering index, and colorful adjustable LED lamp, comprising an insulating body, four sets of mutually independent conductive terminals, and four LED chips, wherein the insulating body is isolated by a longitudinal partition wall to form two reflective cups. The Chinese Invention Patent “A Dual Color Temperature Structure LED Light-Emitting Device” (Publication No. CN 111627895 A) discloses a light-emitting device, comprising a bracket bowl cup, bonding gold wires, chips, die attach adhesive, white dams, brackets, bracket anti-identification mark points, and fluorescent glue, wherein two bracket bowl cups are provided in the bracket, each bowl cup is partitioned by a white dam into a positive region and a negative region, and a chip is fixed by die attach adhesive at the bottom of each bowl cup. However, arranging two or more independent brackets results in a complex structure, low reliability of the dispensing process, and uneven light mixing effect of the reflective cups.
[0008] Therefore, how to provide a cost-effective, highly reliable dual color temperature or multi-color temperature LED is a current research hotspot in the field.
