[0059] Referring to FIG. 2 , one pixel PX may include a pixel driving circuit part PC and a light-emitting element LED electrically connected to the pixel driving circuit part PC. The pixel driving circuit part PC may generate a driving current, and the light-emitting element LED may generate light based on the driving current.

[0062] In an embodiment, the first transistor T1, the second transistor T2, the third transistor T3, and the fourth transistor T4 may be metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) formed through a semiconductor process. That is, the first transistor T1, the second transistor T2, the third transistor T3, and the fourth transistor T4 may be formed in and on a silicon wafer substrate.
[0063] In an embodiment, the fifth transistor T5, the sixth transistor T6, and the seventh transistor T7 may be formed using an oxide semiconductor.
[0064] In case the fifth transistor T5 is an NMOS transistor formed using an oxide semiconductor, a gate-source voltage of the fifth transistor T5 may be stably maintained. In this case, an excellent contrast ratio may be achieved. In addition, in case the sixth transistor T6, and the seventh transistor T7 are NMOS transistors formed using oxide semiconductors, leakage current flowing through the capacitor CAP may be minimized.
[0065] The first transistor T1 may include a gate electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The gate electrode of the first transistor T1 may be connected to a first node N1. The first transistor T1 may be referred to as a “driving transistor”.
[0066] The first transistor T1 may further include a body electrode. The body electrode of the first transistor T1 may receive the first power voltage ELVDD. For example, the body electrode of the first transistor T1 may be connected to the first power line ELVDL. Alternatively, a power voltage different from the first power voltage ELVDD may be applied to the body electrode of the first transistor T1.
[0067] The second transistor T2 may include a gate electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. For example, the body electrode of the second transistor T2 may be connected to the first power line ELVDL. Alternatively, a power voltage different from the first power voltage ELVDD may be applied to the body electrode of the second transistor T2.
[0069] The second transistor T2 may be turned on or off in response to the first gate signal GW. For example, in case the first gate signal GW has an active level, the second transistor T2 may be turned on. In this case, the second transistor T2 may provide the data voltage VDATA to the third node N3. Conversely, in case the first gate signal GW has an inactive level, the second transistor T2 may be turned off. In this case, the second transistor T2 may block the supply of the data voltage VDATA.
[0070] The third transistor T3 may include a gate electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The gate electrode of the third transistor T3 may be connected to a second gate line GCL which receives the second gate signal GC. Alternatively, a power voltage different from the first power voltage ELVDD may be applied to the body electrode of the third transistor T3.
[0072] The third transistor T3 may be turned on or turned off in response to the second gate signal GC. For example, in case the second gate signal GC has an active level, the third transistor T3 may be turned on. In this case, the third transistor T3 may diode-connect the first transistor T1. That is, the third transistor T3 may compensate for a threshold voltage of the first transistor T1. Conversely, in case the second gate signal GC has an inactive level, the third transistor T3 may be turned off. In this case, the first transistor T1 may not be diode-connected.
[0073] The fourth transistor T4 may include a gate electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The gate electrode of the fourth transistor T4 may be connected to an emission control line EL which receives the emission control signal EM. [0074] The fourth transistor T4 may further include a body electrode. The body electrode of the fourth transistor T4 may receive the first power voltage ELVDD. For example, the body electrode of the fourth transistor T4 may be connected to the first power line ELVDL which receives the first supply voltage ELVDD. Alternatively, a power voltage different from the first power voltage ELVDD may be applied to the body electrode of the fourth transistor T4.
[0075] The fourth transistor T4 may be turned on or turned off in response to the emission control signal EM. For example, in case the emission control signal EM has an active level, the fourth transistor T4 may be turned on. In this case, the fourth transistor T4 may provide the driving current generated by the first transistor T1 to the fourth node N4. Conversely, in case the emission control signal EM has an inactive level, the fourth transistor T4 may be turned off. In this case, the fourth transistor T4 may block the supply of the driving current generated by the first transistor T1.
[0076] The fifth transistor T5 may include a gate electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The gate electrode of the fifth transistor T5 may be connected to a third gate line EBL which receives the third gate signal EB. The first electrode of the fifth transistor T5 may be connected to a first voltage line VL1 which receives the initialization voltage VINT. The second electrode of the fifth transistor T5 may be connected to the fourth node N4.
[0077] The fifth transistor T5 may be turned on or turned off in response to the third gate signal EB. For example, in case the third gate signal EB has an active level, the fifth transistor T5 may be turned on. In this case, the fifth transistor T5 may provide the initialization voltage VINT to the fourth node N4. Conversely, in case the third gate signal EB has an inactive level, the fifth transistor T5 may be turned off. In this case, the fifth transistor T5 may block the supply of the initialization voltage VINT.
[0078] The sixth transistor T6 may include a gate electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The gate electrode of the sixth transistor T6 may be connected to a fourth gate line GIL1 which receives the fourth gate signal GI1. The first electrode of the sixth transistor T6 may be connected to the first voltage line VL1 which receives the pre-charging voltage VPRE. The second electrode of the sixth transistor T6 may be connected to the third node N3.
[0079] The sixth transistor T6 may be turned on or turned off in response to the fourth gate signal GI1. For example, in case the fourth gate signal GI1 has an active level, the sixth transistor T6 may be turned on. In this case, the sixth transistor T6 may provide the pre-charging voltage VPRE to the third node N3. Conversely, in case the fourth gate signal GI1 has an inactive level, the sixth transistor T6 may be turned off. In this case, the sixth transistor T6 may block the supply of the pre-charging voltage VPRE.
[0080] The seventh transistor T7 may include a gate electrode, a first electrode, and a second electrode. The gate electrode of the seventh transistor T7 may be connected to a fifth gate line GIL2 which receives the fifth gate signal GI2. The first electrode of the seventh transistor T7 may be connected to the first voltage line VL1 which receives the pre-charging voltage VPRE. The second electrode of the seventh transistor T7 may be connected to the first node N1.
[0081] The seventh transistor T7 may be turned on or turned off in response to the fifth gate signal GI2. For example, in case the fifth gate signal GI2 has an active level, the seventh transistor T7 may be turned on. In this case, the seventh transistor T7 may supply the pre-charging voltage VPRE to the first node N1. Conversely, in case the fifth gate signal GI2 has an inactive level, the seventh transistor T7 may be turned off. The first pixel electrode PE1 may overlap the first pixel area PXA1, the second pixel electrode PE2 may overlap the second pixel area PXA2, and the third pixel electrode PE3 may overlap the third pixel area PXA3.
[0093] The first pixel electrode PE1 may be electrically connected to a transistor of the circuit layer CRL through a contact hole penetrating the circuit insulating layer PXC_IL in the first pixel area PXA1, the second pixel electrode PE2 may be electrically connected to a transistor of the circuit layer CRL through a contact hole in the second pixel area PXA2, and the third pixel electrode PE3 may be electrically connected to a transistor of the circuit layer CRL through a contact hole in the third pixel area PXA3.
[0094] The first, second, and third pixel electrodes PE1, PE2, and PE3 may include a metal, an alloy, a metal nitride, a conductive metal oxide, a transparent conductive material, and the like. That is, the light-blocking layer BM may not overlap the first, second, and third pixel areas PXA1, PXA2, and PXA3. The light-blocking layer BM may block light incident on the light-blocking layer BM. Accordingly, the light-blocking layer BM may prevent color mixing between the first, second, and third pixel areas PXA1, PXA2, and PXA3. For example, the light-blocking layer BM may include an organic and/or inorganic material containing black pigment, black dye, and the like.

[0117] The first channel region CH1 may be defined as a current path formed between the first source region SR1 and the first drain region DR1. For example, in case the first source region SR1 and the first drain region DR1 are doped with a p-type impurity, the first channel region CH1 may be formed when a negative voltage is applied to the gate electrode GE and may transmit current through movement of holes.

[0128] The second gate insulating layer IL2_G may be disposed on the active pattern AP. Specifically, the second gate insulating layer IL2_G may overlap the second channel region CH2 in the plan view. For example, the second gate insulating layer IL2_G may include silicon oxide (SiOx), silicon nitride (SiNx), or an insulating material having a high-dielectric constant. In addition, by disposing the second transistor TR2 on the first transistor TR1, the number of masks used in the manufacturing process of the display device DD may be reduced.
[0136] FIG. 5 is a waveform diagram for explaining an operation of the pixel of FIG. 2 . FIGS. 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are circuit diagrams for explaining each operation period of the pixel of FIG. 5 .
[0137] For example, FIG. 6 is a circuit diagram for explaining that an anode initialization operation performed by the pixel PX in a first period P1 of FIG. 5 . FIG. 9 is a circuit diagram for explaining an anode holding operation performed by the pixel PX in a fourth period P4 of FIG. 5 . FIG. 10 is a circuit diagram for explaining a light-emitting operation performed by the pixel PX in a fifth period P5 of FIG. 5 . That is, the operation periods of the pixel PX may include the first period P1 in which the anode initialization operation is performed, the second period P2 in which the gate initialization operation is performed, the third period P3 in which the data writing operation and the threshold voltage compensation operation are performed, the fourth period P4 in which the anode holding operation is performed, and the fifth period P5 in which the light-emitting operation is performed.
[0138] Referring to FIGS. 2 and 5 to 10 , the pixel PX may sequentially perform the anode initialization operation, the gate initialization operation, the data writing operation, the threshold voltage compensation operation, the anode holding operation, and the light-emitting operation during one frame. Here, the data writing operation and the threshold voltage compensation operation may be performed in the same operation period. As the pixel PX sequentially performs the anode initialization operation, the gate initialization operation, the data writing operation, the threshold voltage compensation operation, the anode holding operation, and the light-emitting operation during one frame, the operation periods of the pixel PX may sequentially proceed through the first period P1, the second period P2, the third period P3, the fourth period P4, and the fifth period P5.

Conversely, in cast that the gate signal (or the emission control signal) applied to the gate electrode of the PMOS transistor has a low level (i.e., an active level), the PMOS transistor may be turned on.
[0140] In cast that a gate signal (or an emission control signal) applied to a gate electrode of a NMOS transistor has a high level (i.e., an active level), the PMOS transistor may be turned on. Conversely, in cast that the gate signal (or the emission control signal) applied to the gate electrode of the NMOS transistor has a low level (i.e., an inactive level), the PMOS transistor may be turned off.

[0142] Accordingly, during the first period P1, the third node N3 may receive the pre-charging voltage VPRE, and the fourth node N4 may receive the initialization voltage VINT. In this case, the voltage of the third node N3 and the voltage of the fourth node N4 may be initialized. In addition, the second node N2 may receive the initialization voltage VINT. In this case, the voltage of the second node N2 may be initialized.
[0143] In the second period P2, the first gate signal GW may have the high level GW_H, the second gate signal GC may have the high level GC_H, the third gate signal EB may have the high level EB_H, the fourth gate signal GI1 may have the high level GI1_H, the fifth gate signal GI2 may transition from the high level GI2_H to the low level GI2_L after a predetermined time has elapsed after transitioning from the low level GI2_L to the high level GI2_H, and the light-emission control signal EM may have the high level EM_H. That is, in the second period P2, the third gate signal EB, the fourth gate signal GI1, and the fifth gate signal GI2 may have active levels, and the first gate signal GW, the second gate signal GC, and the emission control signal EM may have inactive levels. In this case, the fifth transistor T5, the sixth transistor T6, and the seventh transistor T7 may be turned on, and the second transistor T2, the third transistor T3, and the fourth transistor T4 may be turned off.
[0144] Accordingly, during the second period P2, the first node N1 and the third node N3 may receive the pre-charging voltage VPRE, and the fourth node N4 may receive the initialization voltage VINT. In this case, the voltage of the first node N1, the voltage of the third node N3, and the voltage of the fourth node N4 may be initialized.
[0145] In the third period P3, the first gate signal GW may transition from the low level GW_L to the high level GW_H after a predetermined time has elapses after transitioning from the high level GW_H to the low level GW_L, the second gate signal GC may transition from the low level GC_L to the high level GC_H after a predetermined time has elapses after transitioning from the high level GC_H to the low level GC_L, the third gate signal EB may have the high level EB_H, the fourth gate signal GI1 transitions from the high level GI1_H to the low level GI1_L, the fifth gate signal GI2 may have the low level GI2_L, and the emission control signal EM may have the high level EM_H. That is, in the third period P3, the first gate signal GW, the second gate signal GC, and the third gate signal EB may have active levels, and the fourth gate signal GI1, the fifth gate signal GI2, and the emission control signal EM may have inactive levels. In this case, the second transistor T2, the third transistor T3, and the fifth transistor T5 may be turned on, and the fourth transistor T4, the sixth transistor T6, and the seventh transistor T7 may be turned off.
[0146] Accordingly, during the third period P3, the third node N3 may receive the data voltage VDATA, the fourth node N4 may receive the initialization voltage VINT, and the third transistor T3 may diode-connect the first transistor T1. In this case, the voltage of the fourth node N4 may be initialized. In addition, the voltage of the third node N3 may become the value of the data voltage VDATA, and the voltage of the first node N1 may be a value obtained by subtracting the absolute value of the threshold voltage (Vth) of the first transistor T1 from the first power voltage ELVDD. Here, the data voltage VDATA may have a level corresponding to a predetermined grayscale.
[0147] In the fourth period P4, the first gate signal GW may have the high level GW_H, the second gate signal GC may have the high level GC_H, the third gate signal EB may have the high level EB_H, the fourth gate signal GI1 may have the high level GI1_H, the fifth gate signal GI2 may have the low level GI2_L, and the emission control signal EM may have the low level EM_L. That is, in the fourth period P4, the third gate signal EB, the fourth gate signal GI1, and the emission control signal EM may have active levels, and the first gate signal GW, the second gate signal GC, and the fifth gate signal GI2 may have inactive levels. In this case, the fourth transistor T4, the fifth transistor T5, and the sixth transistor T6 may be turned on, and the second transistor T2, the third transistor T3, and the seventh transistor T7 may be turned off.
[0148] Accordingly, during the fourth period P4, the third node N3 may receive the pre-charging voltage VPRE. In this case, the voltage of the third node N3 may be initialized. At the same time, a current path connected to a ground may be formed through the first transistor T1, the fourth transistor T4, and the fifth transistor T5. Due to the current flowing through the current path, a parasitic capacitor may be discharged. In this case, the voltage of the third node N3 may become the value of the pre-charging voltage VPRE, and the voltage of the first node N1 may be determined by the following Equation 1.
[0149] Here, VN1 is a voltage of the first node N1.
[0150] In the fifth period P5, the first gate signal GW may have the high level GW_H, the second gate signal GC may have the high level GC_H, the third gate signal EB may have the low level EB_L, the fourth gate signal GI1 may have the high level GI1_H, the fifth gate signal GI2 may have the low level GI2_L, and the emission control signal EM may have the low level EM_L. That is, in the fifth period P5, the fourth gate signal GI1 and the emission control signal EM may have active levels, and the first gate signal GW, the second gate signal GC, the third gate signal EB, and the fifth gate signal GI2 may have inactive levels. In this case, the fourth transistor T4 and the sixth transistor T6 may be turned on, and the second transistor T2, the third transistor T3, the fifth transistor T5, and the seventh transistor T7 may be turned off.
[0151] Accordingly, during the fifth period P5, the third node N3 may receive the pre-charging voltage VPRE. In this case, the voltage of the third node N3 may be initialized. At the same time, a driving current ID generated by the first transistor T1 may flow through the light-emitting element LED. The driving current ID may be determined by the voltage of the first node N1. Accordingly, the light-emitting element LED may emit light based on the driving current ID. As such, the fifth period P5 may be the light-emitting period in which the light-emitting operation for the light-emitting element LED is performed.
