[0002] The present disclosure relates to an electronic device and a method for providing an input interface by using at least two types of input information generated by different input methods.

[0003] Recently, electronic devices such as a mobile equipment mainly utilize an input method of touching or approaching a screen by using a user's finger or an electronic pen. Such a touch screen input method is widely used for electronic devices such as a smartphone, mobile phone, notebook computer, or tablet personal computer (PC).

[0004] Further, the touch screen input method is performed by input means such as a user's gesture or an electronic pen. For example, the input method may identify a contact or proximity of an electronic pen on a touch screen. The gesture or input using an electronic pen is utilized in a convergence form through various combinations.

[0005] As various input methods of electronic device are developed, executing a specific function becomes complicated. Therefore, as input methods become complicated, accessibility and usability of electronic device decreases.

[0006] Accordingly, accessibility to a specific function must be improved by providing an intuitive method for a hand-based input and electronic-pen-based input.

[0007] Further, as the electronic-pen-based input method is more frequently used, easier input methods must be developed for specific applications.

Accordingly, an aspect of the present disclosure is to provide an electronic device and a method for providing an easier and intuitive input interface.

The electronic device includes a touch screen configured to receive a first input signal and a second input signal based on different input methods, and a controller configured to control the touch screen to display an event item related to an attribute of electronic pen if the first input signal is continued for more than a predetermined time and display a function related to the event item based on the second input signal if the second input signal is received while the display of event item and the first input signal are being continued.

For example, the electronic pen 110 can receive a radio frequency (RF) signal from the electronic device 100 through an antenna. The electronic pen 110 can provide the electronic device 100 with state information such as a pressure applied to the electronic pen 110 (pen pressure) or a button input through the echo signal having at least one of a changed frequency, changed altitude, and changed phase.

The specific input signal can be a signal different from a touch or hovering input signal of the electronic pen 110. For example, the electronic device 100 can distinguish between an input signal generated by contacting the electronic pen 110 on the touch screen 140 and an input signal generated by contacting the electronic pen 110 onto the touch screen 140 while pressing the function button.

[0039] According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the electronic pen 110 may include at least one sensor (not shown) configured to measure at least one of an inclination of the electronic pen 110, a movement speed of the electronic pen 110, and a distance between the electronic pen 110 and the touch screen 140. The at least one sensor may include a 2-axis or 3-axis acceleration sensor, or 2-axis or 3-axis gyro sensor. For example, any well-known component may be used if the component can measure an inclination of the electronic pen 110, the movement speed of the electronic pen 110, or the distance between the electronic pen 110 and the touch screen 140. The sensor for measuring the an inclination of the electronic pen 110, movement speed of the electronic pen 110, or distance between the electronic pen 110 and the touch screen 140 may be included in one of the electronic pen 110 and electronic device 100, or in both of them.

[0040] The sensor module 120 may include other sensors (not shown) that can measure a physical quantity or detect an operation state of the electronic device 100, and convert the measured or detected information to an electric signal. The sensor module 120 may further include a control circuit to control at least one sensor included in the sensor module 120.
