In Patent Literature 1, a voltage corresponding to the breakdown voltage of a temperature compensation diode is applied to the avalanche photodiode as a bias voltage. Hereinafter, in this specification, the “avalanche photodiode” will be referred to as an “APD”.

The second terminal is electrically connected to the APD and the first electrode of each of the temperature compensation diodes.

FIG. 5 is a graph illustrating the temperature dependence of the obtained slope “a” and intercept “b” of the regression line. In FIG. 5, the horizontal axis indicates the ambient temperature, and the vertical axis indicates the values of “a” and “b”. The solid line indicates the data of “a”, and the broken line indicates the data of “b”.
